John Hunt

Creative Chairman TBWA\Worldwide

In 1983, John and his partners founded TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris. The agency lives by the mantra Life’s too short to be mediocre.  It has won countless awards, including Agency of the Century in 2000, and Agency of the Decade in 2010, the same year that work for The Zimbabwean Newspaper also became the most awarded campaign of all time after sweeping the boards at Cannes, One Show, Clio’s, ADC and D&AD.

Proof that advertising can make the world a better place, John was intimately involved in Nelson Mandela’s first ANC election campaign in 1993. Although rather harrowing at the time, this unique moment in history ushered a battered South Africa into the warm light of democracy.

In 2003, John moved to TBWA’s New York headquarters to assume the role of Worldwide Creative Director. John became nothing less than a creative compass for the network and helped reshape the network to think less about ads and more about ideas.

Upon arriving in New York, John founded the TBWA Young Bloods program. Not to be confused with an internship, Young Bloods tracks the brightest creative talent as it almost overwhelms them with opportunity. In 2004, John began the “SWAT” initiative.  This program ensures a global answer to the creative questions often asked by worldwide clients.

John returned to his native South Africa in 2006 to continue his Worldwide role from Johannesburg.

Monica Lazzarotto

Managing Director Youmark

Monica Lazzarotto. I was born on 10th July, but I can’t quite remember the year… (1964). In 2007, Cecilia Ungania and I founded www.youmark.it, which I run.  What is it? It started out as a video-magazine (and I would say without exaggeration that we were the first – videos weren’t yet a must), today we consider ourselves a place where we give form and substance in words and images to the value that agencies, brands, venues, cities, people, production companies, etc. know how to create, with their vision and their work. Our passion is creativity, in all its declinations.  Our plus is the human spirit. And we never stop. Since January, we’ve launched new thematic channels, starting with health. Having said that… where were we? Ah, yes, before youmark, I had very varied work experience. I worked on daily broadcasts such as Borsa Oggi (Telelombardia) and TuttoBorsa (Telecampione), but I’ve also sold advertising space, I gave accounting a try, I’ve done technical analysis of currency trends, and lots more. I graduated in Economics from Cà Foscari (Ve). I adore stories. Especially good ones.

Saturnino

Musician

Saturnino (Ascoli Piceno, 1969) is considered by most respected critics to be one of the world’s best bass players. Both a cult figure and popular author at the same time, Saturnino made his debut as a soloist in 1995 with Testa di basso, an album which showed his great compositional skill and eclecticism. Despite alternating bass, drums and guitar, he proved that his exceptional technical mastery is never an end in itself. The album received considerable acclaim from critics and audiences, and the prestigious American label Verve included it in its catalogue, as its only Italian artist. That same year Verve invited him to perform at its official presentation in Italy at the Propaganda in Milan, together with Chris Botti and Gary Thomas. Testa di basso however was not Saturnino’s first recording. His collaboration as bass player and co-writer with Lorenzo Jonavotti dates back to 1991. He and Jovanotti have made eight albums together, including a double live.

His other CDs as a soloist are: Zelig (1996), the live SaTOURnino (1997), Clima (2000). Versatile instrumentalist capable of tackling any style, Saturnino blends influences deriving from a culture marked by classical music studies (he began studying violin at the age of five) and a passion for funk, jazz, rock and hip hop.

Though his music inclines to contamination, it never makes references to other musicians. Saturnino has his own concept of musical nomadism, in which the artist moves freely across territories of music that have already been travelled by others. He never repeats himself and always uses his creativity to put together new ensembles capable of expressing new musical identities.

A significant moment in Saturnino’s musical and personal history was his 1991 meeting with Lorenzo Jovanotti, where the synergy between them led to the writing of songs that achieved success, such as L’ombelico del mondo, Io No, Credo Positivo and Save me.

Furthermore, it is Saturnino’s bass that provides the powerful rhythmic base of Il mio nome è mai più, a track recorded by Pierò Pelù, Jovanotti and Ligabue in 1999, in aid of Emergency and which, with over six hundred thousand copies sold, represents one of the most successful singles of the last decade.
